On the way home from my Rapidan adventure on Tues 5/1 Scott let me know from the Hwy that he had a surprise day to fish Wens 5/2, so after a great day on Tuesday, Scott and I headed back to our favorite stretch of the upper Rapidan for a brook trout fix. Scott hadn't been to the Upper Rap in years and we both enjoyed seeing how the river had changed and finding old holes, pools and feisty brookies. The day began on 56 degree water with the trout taking mostly subsurface nymphs and then much to our joy the bugs came out and the trout started looking up for their food....the surface bite was on! Scott led the way with a silky long 6x tippet and caught fish after fish on both parachute adams and Mr, Rapidans. We both enjoyed scouting for one another and calling casts and drifts and cheering the takes. I was a wonderful day which we look to repeat.
